Obituary of Laurence Simmons

Laurence Bayard Simmons, 77, of Fredericton, NB, passed away peacefully on November 24 at Hospice Fredericton.

Born to Edward and Connie (Clements) Simmons , Laurence dedicated his career to public service as a social worker with the provincial government. His steady professionalism, compassion, and commitment to supporting others earned him the respect of colleagues and all those he served throughout his many years in the field.

Laurence cherished his time at his camp on the Miramichi, where he found great joy spending quiet mornings surrounded by nature or casting a line into the river.

He is survived by his sister, Cathy Butler; his brothers, Michael (Karen) and Peter (Doreen); as well as one nephew and three nieces. Laurence was predeceased by his parents and by his brother-in-law, Darrel Butler.

As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Larry's name made to Hospice Fredericton would be appreciated by the family.
