Don, Dr Jessica and Emily, you have been in our thoughts and prayers since discovering the obituary regarding your beautiful wife and lovely mother. We first met at the St Thomas chapel where we attended Mass and were so inspired by you as family. Of course Heather’s stunning beauty, smile and charm might have been a distraction! Grace is a good description. We were a family having recently arrived in Fredericton from Jamaica and the friendship your family extended to us was an inspiration. And Don, your great patience, inspiration and help in the field of music with Jeremy and Rebekah has been lasting and for which we will always be grateful. Thank you. And know that heather lives in the embrace of the God of all creation.
Peace and love.

Dear Don, Jessica and Emily:
I have been thinking about you all these past two weeks and wish I could have been at Heather's memorial in person. I can't think of a more generous, intelligent, kind, or supportive person than Heather. I've appreciated all the times I've spent talking to her over the years, at your family home, at the Lunar Rogue, in my time working with her at Alumni Affairs, and the countless concerts that she attended, including the recent tour to Vancouver and Maple Ridge. She was so full of life and passionate about so many things. I know she was so proud of all of you and that you are an amazing family unit who will be able to lean on each other in this time of loss and grieving.

Heather was my first best childhood friend living 2 doors down from one another in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. We would skip with arms around one another singing “buddies, buddies!!” Her Dad asked me to keep her focussed walking to school because she was a dawdler. Not knowing what a dawdler was at age 6, I was the wrong one to ask. With our heads in the clouds and discovering so much along the way to school, naturally we were late. Marie accompanied us the next time. I have fond memories of playing at Madge Lake, paddling the bay on our surf boards. I visited Heather in Campbellton when I was 18 and her touring expertise was very evident: cliff jumping, tickets to see Trooper, hiking, my first drinking games! Heather always had a spark and lit up the world in her sphere. I am a better person for having her in my life and will cherish our times together forever. My last visit with her was in Calgary when she and Don were there for his Juno award. Truly a loving soul whose spirit lives on in all of us lucky to call her friend. Love you Heather.

Oh Don , I am so sorry for your loss and I am relieved that Heather’s suffering is over .
My memory of meeting Heather was at STU , Sept , 1982 .
It was my first week and I was feeling quite lost . I stood in line for a meal at the cafeteria and I found myself behind a woman with the most beautiful, curly dark hair . She turned around to face me as we held our trays.and then I saw those eyes.
I couldn’t help myself and said , “you are the mist beautiful woman I have ever met “ She was gracious ,laughed
We introduced ourselves to one another. She was engaging and welcomed me to STU and offered her support if I needed.
I am sad to know she has left .
I am grateful she was here
Peace be with you Don and family
Warmly

I just wanted to let you know how deeply sorry I am for all of you.
When you moved across from us on Parkhurst, long ago, the neighborhood truly began to sparkle with light and friendship. So many fantastic memories, with Heather at the heart of them. That is what Heather did, she sparkled; with light, kindness, love, and a tireless passion and advocacy for her family, her neighbors, her city, and her province. Anybody who was lucky enough to have Heather in their lives, no matter how long, was the luckier for it. I know that all of her wonderful characteristics now reside in you, Jessica and Emily, and in her grandchildren.
Again, to all of you, I am truly sorry. My deepest thoughts and sympathies are with you.
