I can't even begin to tell you all how sad I am for each of you as I am for myself in losing and amazing human being like Dr Michael Hayter. His presence at the hospital will be a void that can't be filled by anyone else. He spoke so highly of you Karen... the love of his life. His eyes lit up when talking of his children, grandchildren and of course the cottage on Skiff Lake. I feel so privileged to work along side him. I will miss our chats, laughs and teasing. May your memories give you comfort during this difficult time. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.

I am so sorry Karen. He was a great man and will be missed by so many. He was always so nice to us staff on 4SE. It didn't matter if you was a housekeeper, nurse, LPN, or doctor. He always had time to have a chat. One of the nicest men I have ever met in my life and he was a favorite doctor by many of us staff. There will be many tears shed at the DECH for the next while and he will always hold a special place in our heart. He will never be forgotten. You are a strong woman and you will always have the years of memories to cherish. Take care of you, Virginia

So sorry for your loss Karen and hayter families. As we all know, Mike was one of a kind. Him and I talked often about hunting and His pheasant trip that he took up north to my trips to the dungarvon ruffled grouse hunting. Mike and I even were talking about doing a moose hunt here in NB if I was chosen. I will miss the waves in the hall and always a point and hello. To follow up with have you been fishing or hunting this weekend. He was so proud when he went out west a couple years back and told everyone he seen about that trip. Take care of each other. Terry

I worked with Mike at Frisbee Memorial Hospital in Rochester NH, and my wife and I also had him as our PCP. We chatted many times about New Brunswick because my wife was from Harvey Station and had relatives in Fredericton NB. Mike would end his week at work and drive home to New Brunswick. I had made him a few cassette tapes on Scottish bagpipe bands which he loved and had.said the music made his drive home more pleasurable.

I was so sad to read of Dr, Hayter's death in this morning's paper. I met Dr. Hayter in 2019 when I was going through chemo treatment and was hospitalized and admitted under his care. I met him later that same month when I was hospitalized and I requested his care. He gave me encouragement to keep fighting and treated me with respect and kindness. A few weeks after my discharge, I was in the oncology dept. and I looked up and who was standing by my side, but Dr Hayter who dropped by to see how I was doing. He was a great doctor and my heart goes out to his family. Sincerely, Beth Reid

I had the pleasure of spending the summer of 1982 next to Mike doing forestry work in the woods between Doaktown, Chipman, and Minto, and all the way out to Harcourt. Mike brought joy with him everywhere he went. I was sad when he left forestry for medicine, but not surprised because he had the kind of curiosity about life and living things and the outgoing personality that the Dalhousie Med School must have recognized when they met him. He's gone too soon! My condolences to the family and to his many, many friends.

Memories of Mike make me smile. "How could that happen?" He would ask."If I come into money I'll buy "us" (the hospital) a new computer system" he would say when we couldn't do something. I always knew he would review medication changes with his patients on discharge and that he would fax their prescriptions himself. He helped advocate for increased pharmacist positions and include us in the team. It was a pleasure to work with Mike, and I'll miss our conversations and many debates. I hope that you will find comfort in the memories you shared. My condolences.

Karen and Hayter Family, I was so sad to hear of Dr. Hayters passing. He was one of the best all round guys and a top notch physician. He would never forget a face and always had a wave and big Hello anytime I saw him. He always saw things that could be done as improvements in health care and would say "How can we do that and if you can I'll bring the wine". I know he will be missed greatly in your lives and feel pride in knowing how much he will be missed around the DECRH. Take care.
