It made me sad today to read in the telegraph about the death of Gerard. I still have my home a block from where Gerard grew up. I'm 86; he was 87. He always seemed so pleased to come by when he was on holidays visiting our hometown. Someone deserves a lot of credit for the marvelous article in the paper, it was a tribute to a really fine man. It reminds me of a saying "local boy makes good" if he could read it himself, he would probably be a little embarrassed. I haven't had any contact with Gerard for years but I truly remember him as a friend. I want to express condolences to Anne and all the members of the family. I would appreciate it if the contents of this note could be shared with his sister Georgette who is so far away in B.C.
