A beautiful soul has left our midst. The family of Greta Mae McNamara are sad to announce her sudden passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Her beloved husband of 61 years, J. Warren McNamara predeceased her on April 9, 2022. Born June 24, 1937 in New Zion, NB she was a daughter of the late Everett C. and Annie V. (Rogers) Richardson.

Greta leaves behind two much loved and adored children, Sheryl McNamara and Andy McNamara also two very special chosen granddaughters, Chelsea and Keira. She also leaves behind a brother Willis (Roberta) and a sister Dorothy West, brother-in-law Wellington (Betty), sister-in-law Thelma (Fred) Gallant, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Greta was also predeceased by an infant daughter Wanda Mae, brothers Oscar (Daureen), Frederick (Junetta), Harold (June) and sister Ethel (Sonny).

Greta came to Fredericton in 1956 where she started her working career at Hartt Shoe Factory. Later she was employed at UNB, then with Mary Targett and finally with the NB Dept. of Labour. Following her retirement, Greta cherished her time as a stay-at-home mom where she got to enjoy working on her many beautiful quilts, crocheting, knitting and sewing for family and friends. Greta was renowned for her cooking skills especially her homemade bread. Nothing made her happier than sharing her baking goods with family and friends. She was a much loved and faithful member of Smythe Street Church, Fredericton. She worked as a Sunday School Secretary at Smythe Street Church and in New Zion for 40 years. She was also a dedicated Crusader Leader at Smythe Street Church for a number of years. She will be dearly missed by so many who knew and loved her.
