Obituary of Mary Ann L. Birney
Mrs. Mary Ann Louise Birney (Flanders) wife of the late Paul E. Birney of Fredericton, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully into the arms of her precious Savior, and surrounded by her family, Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the age of 86.
Mary Ann was born to parents Alma (Albert) Flanders and Hubert Miles Flanders on November 9, 1933 in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick.
She worked as a Nursing Supervisor at the Victoria Public Hospital and transitioned to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital as a Service Co-ordinator where she left a legacy of caring for people and had a great work ethic. She is remembered by her colleagues for her tenacity and ability to work in a "crazy Busy" environment while always finding something to laugh about. Mary Ann loved nature and her heart belonged to God, Her family and Harvey Lake. She loved the cottage and spent every summer there.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Susan George; her son, Peter Birney (Cecilia); three grandchildren; Allison Taylor (Bobby), Adam Bates and Maggie Birney; her two great grandchildren Jase and Nova Taylor; her sister-in-law Patricia Flanders and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers; Harold, Clayton and Marcus and her sisters; Patricia, Charlene and Shirley.
A Celebration of Life will take place at her home church, HopeCity Church, 429 Clements Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, October 8th, 2020 at 11 am with the Rev. Joe Beesley officiating. Covid19 protocol and restrictions will be in effect. A private burial will follow.
