Obituary of Joan Yvonne Moore

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Moore announces her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB on May 17, 2023, at the age of 93. Born in Fredericton, NB, on June 4, 1929, she was the wife of Dennis Moore and the daughter of the late Leon and Amy (Hearne) Smith.

In addition to her husband of 71 years, Dennis, Joan leaves behind her sons, Terrance Moore and Stephen Moore (Annette) both of Fredericton, NB; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, as well as many friends and extended family members.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Leary Moore (Linda, deceased), her sister, Norma McFarlane and her brother, Edward Smith.

Joan loved to laugh and had a delightful sense of humour. She would regularly share a witty remark that made us smile. Her computer like retention of facts allowed her to remember everyone’s special day; those birthday cards will be missed. Joan loved her family, but more than anything, she was a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother. She doted on her grandchildren as they were the light of her life. She will be truly missed.

The Moore family would like to express their appreciation to the EMT's and emergency room doctors, nurses and staff at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital for their kind and considerate care for Joan during her brief illness.

A private family Memorial Service will be held in Fredericton, with an interment following at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Christ Church (Parish) Church Under One Roof Fund.  Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam’s Funeral Home and online condolences may be left at www.mcadamsfh.com.
