Obituary of Jeannine Phyllis Colburne
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Jeannine Phyllis Colburne, age 90. Born on March 4, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Colburne and Helen Greer of Joggins Mines, Nova Scotia. Jeannine was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She will be greatly missed by her great niece Iris Macdonald Savage (and Mike Savage); youngest nephew Colin Savage from Toronto ON; special niece Karen Colburne, and her great nieces Christine Gelinas, Tracey Cameron and great nephew Trevor Colburne and the whole Colburne Family of Sudbury, ON.
In addition to her parents, Jeannine was predeceased by her three older brothers Edward, George and Jack Colburne who were all WWII veterans. She is also predeceased by her closest niece, Carol (Colburne) MacDonald, who was like a sister to her.
Jeannine spent a happy life in Fredericton, working for the NB Power Commission until retirement. For the last 5 years, Jeannine was a resident of St. Anne’s Court, Fredericton. She was a joy to be around; she always had a smile on her face and had a great memory for people. Jeannine was full of life and beloved by many; she loved shopping, enjoyed her wine and great meals with family and friends. For years she loved travelling around the world with Carol & James MacDonald (also predeceased), and later spent Christmases, Birthdays and Holidays with Iris & Mike Savage. She had a wonderful circle of friends from her years living on St. John’s Street with: Carlotta, Debbie (Up), Debbie (Down), Kathy, and Marian & Roy; were all together this year to celebrate her 90th Birthday. A special thanks and gratitude to Carlotta O’Donnell and Hank who cared for her in her final days.
There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. She is at peace with Jesus and God in Heaven. In keeping with Jeannine’s wishes friends will be gathering for a special dinner in Fredericton in her honour. Burial and Service will be held in the Family plot at St. John’s Norway Cemetery, Toronto, ON, at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
