My condolences go out to Jane’s family. I just learned of her passing. We grew up in the same neighborhood in Westborough, playing kick the can and red rover, red rover and climbing a huge tree in her back yard. I went to the same church as her mother in her later years. You always remember “the kids” you grew up with and that was Jane and her brothers. My sympathies to her family.

I am sad to learn of Jane’s death. She was my counselor while at Med-o-lark camp and fellow counselor at Medomak and a very significant role model for me during those years. I know she had a great impact on all she interacted with during those camp summers and I mourn her loss

Dear Ian and family,
John and I were saddened to hear of Jane's sudden death and extend our deepest sympathies to you. Although we left Fredericton some 23 years ago we have fond memories of Ian as our family doctor and Jane as a formidable tennis player who graced the courts for years with her powerful strokes and her lovely sense of humor. We know you have both faced health challenges over the years but have served as role models of family strength and determination. Our hearts go out to you.

I was very saddened to read of Jane's passing. She was truly a wonderful support throughout your life. Her quiet manner, gentle smile made all in the cancer support group so comfortable. Although the circumstances were not the best, I am so pleased I had the opportunity meet her.

Earth just lost one of its' greatest. The loss rivets outward and touches us in a way that only greatness can. The loss contains a mixture of sadness, a sense of awe from knowing her as well as a challenge to step our own life up a notch.
I played tennis with Jane on Friday for many years. Jane was a great player as well as a great sport. We played hard and laughed a lot. Her grin and quiet toughness empowered me to up level my game. She spoke volumes with her racket and her joy of fair play. I just loved every moment on and off the court with her.
George Wandless would always warn me when I was playing against her. "Don't get in a cross cross battle with Jane - you will lose every-time" I have to admit he was right.
My heartfelt condolences to Ian and family.

Dear Ian and family, I am so very sorry to hear of Jane’s death. When I first met Jane a few years ago I liked her immediately (and not just because we shared a name)! She was bright and warm and it was fun to see how much she enjoyed recounting her years canoeing and leading girls on canoeing adventures (and a few misadventures) on rivers. It was clear that she loved to sail too (she said she loved the sound of the water on the hull) and I remember the times I saw the two of you sailing up the Mactaquac Headpond, Jane in the cockpit with her head turned towards the wind or perched on the edge of the boat as you prepared to dock. I can offer only these few memories and my deepest sympathies at this time of profound loss for you and your entire family. Take good care.

Gill Liebenberg and Hugh send their condolences to Ian, Andy and Jennifer on their loss of Jane. Long time friend through the Fredericton Medical community and shared love of tennis and the outdoors, I shall greatly miss Jane and the stories of her granddaughter. I especially remember the kindness given when Ian and Jane looked after my South African cousin’s son on a work placement. Thank you. I hope that the happy memories of Jane will comfort you in the years to come.

Lois and I send our greatest sympathies to Ian, Andy and Jennifer on the passing of Jane Newton MacDonald. Jane was a very special person with a special husband, Ian, and special children, Andy and Jennifer. This is a horrific loss. Tough. Tough. Very tough.
Jane and Ian’s devotion to each other was evident every way through the good times, and through more than their fair share of tough times. We were fortunate to have Jane as a friend.
Albert’s memories go back more than 60 years to summer camp in Maine. As a counselor Jane was a role model. She was very welcoming to my little sister her first year. Nobody was better with an axe. Jane split firewood right down the middle every time with a quick, powerful swing.
I remember too when Jane taught school in Seneca Falls, New York. Ian stayed in my room at Syracuse during his visits down from Queens University, until the blizzard when he stayed over at Jane’s. He never stayed with me again!
There have been memorable camp reunions, and Lois and I made memorable trips with Jane and Ian to the Highland Games, bicycling in PEI, and summer and winter trips to Mt. Katahdin in Maine. We will miss Jane a lot. Love, Albert and Lois

To son Andy (Ian Andrew), daughter Jennifer, and Ian (husband to Jane), please accept my heartfelt condolences. Andy and I reminisced about our younger teenage years, sharing fond memories of his Mom, Jane, who laughed along with us during our teenage shenanigans, accepted us for who we were (in still figuring a lot of stuff out!) and kept our tummies full of delectable home-made chocolate chip cookies. Your Mom was always clever, generous, kind, and easy to talk to. Dearly devoted to her hubby and to you and Jennifer, and went above and beyond with the time and talent she gave to her community. As you celebrate your mother's life, may you also take comfort in that she was so generous, kind, inspiring, and well-loved by so many!

Ian and family, I am so very saddened to hear this news. I met Jane many years ago through her support of different groups and was always amazed at how she continued to give of herself, even while struggling with health concerns. And she was always positive, not only about her own situation but situations that others were dealing with. May you find some comfort knowing that she was dearly loved and respected by many.

Sorry for your loss. Mrs. Mac. That is what how I remember her...that is what we always called her. She was my leader in pathfinders. We had wonderful times we at the house. Sleeping over...the obstacle course in the trees. Going to camp. All the crafts we did. It was a very special time in my life. She was a very special lady. I found a few photos of that time.(1982 and 1985)
