Dear family of Ted and Anita…For many years I worked at the Daily Gleaner in Fredericton. That is where I first met Ted.. A lovely soul.. He always radiated kindness and a gentle sense of humour. Later on with the passage of time I got to meet Anita….Another lovely soul. Sometimes in life we get to see a true love story and that is what I will remember and cherish…I hope you will always embrace that. My sincerest condolences.

Sad to hear about the passing of Mr Jones, I had him as a teacher at FHS. Best teacher I ever had. He was a very soft spoken and a gentleman. May he and his wife Rest in peace.

I had Ted as my teacher in Grade 7 at Stanley High. This was his first teaching assignment and we often joked that he was not much older than his students! I reconnected with him years later in Fredericton and then met Anita. We have had a friendship for over fifty years. We went on bus trips together and kept in touch with telephone visits. How lucky we all were to have known them as teachers and friends. It will be very strange to be visiting Fredericton again next month and not seeing them for a get together. They both were the epitome of academic excellence and lasting friendship. I will never forget them. Rick Vickers, Toronto.

Sorry to hear about Ted’s unexpected passing. My condolences to Adam and Daniel. I have known Ted since our days living in McAdam. By coincidence we became back yard neighbours in Fredericton since 1973. I will miss our many visits with him and Anita and our chat in the back yard. Joan Flynn

I was a student and Homeroom student of Mr. Jones’s back in 1974-1977 at FHS. He was always available for questions and help when I needed it. He shared his knowledge with his students with all his worth. He was a very smart man and over the years since being in his class I offer would remember him and smile. Thank you Mr Jones for all you have done. RIP.

As I wrote on Anita's memory page, this has come as a great shock. My sympathy to all the family. When I would meet Ted and Anita, they would direct their conversation to me...not about themselves. What laughs we would have as we recalled memories of school and university. I will certainly miss them.

Mr. Jones was my grade 11 English teacher. His love of literature, respect for young minds, creative teaching methods, empathy, kindness, and sense of fairness had a tremendous influence on me and stayed with me all my life. When my sisters and I were considering who should deliver the eulogy at our mother, Mona MacMillan's funeral, Mr. Jones was our choice. He did a remarkable job, as we knew he would.
Mrs. Jones was my grade 11 French teacher. Even though I wasn't her best student, she, in her words "got me through," as good teachers do. I will always remember her patience and warmth.
Please accept my condolences for your loss, and take heart in the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Jones touched so many lives in the best way possible.

Ted Jones touched so many lives as a master teacher, historian, heritage advocate and writer. His accomplishments are many, his legacy impressive. We, in the City of Fredericton and the Province of New Brunswick, owe him an enormous debt for preserving and sharing our stories. I was fortunate to have known Ted as a student, FHS colleague, and neighbour for 50 years on Willingdon Street, where we had many fine curbside conversations. He will be missed. Rest in peace, Mr. Jones.

Ted was my home room and English teacher in Grade 11. My husband had him for Grade 9. I rank him as one of my best all-time mentors. Every time we met up over the years, he and Anita were always so kind and excited to see us. When he wrote about my great great aunts, the Misses Young and their millinery business, it was such a treat. Ted and Anita will be remembered as dedicated, talented teachers who wanted nothing more than success for their students and they took such delight in our accomplishments. Our hearts go out to the family. Rest in peace. Remembered forever.

Ted Jones inspired those of us keen on writing poetry and fiction as FHS students from 1968 to '71, more than half a century ago, His enthusiasm for reading and talking about books was infectious. He took initiative in forming a Creative Writing Club, and in overseeing the production of a little anthology of student work called Writer's Cramp. He did good work arranging visits with FHS students by local published authors such as Alden Nowlan, Al Pittman, Joseph Sherman and Nancy Bauer. Years later, it was pleasing to read that he and Anita were dedicated to exploring New Brunswick history and publishing the results of their valuable research. Thank you, Ted, for being one of the most memorable teachers many of us encountered during our youth in Fredericton.
