Obituary of Donna Marie Ward

The Family of Donna Marie Ward of Maugerville, NB sadly announce her passing on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the Dr. Everetts Chalmers Hospital. She was born in Saint John on June 27, 1941 to the late Monie (Margaret) Davis, then later became a chosen daughter to the late Frank and Josephine Clark of Lakeville Corner.

Donna is survived by a son, David Ward (Ann) of Fredericton, and a daughter, Debbie Ward (Conrad) of Moncton, five grandchildren, Nick Ward, Traci Ward (Chris), Tyler Orr (Ashley), Marinda Ward (Tyler) and Kristeen Ward (James). She’s also survived by four great grandchildren, Alex, Kara, Tyson and Sarah.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Gerald (Bud) Alfred Ward, and son Robert Weston Ward, and will be joining them at the Maugerville Baptist Cemetery. She’s also predeceased by a long time special friend Mae Burtt.

She worked for many years as a School Custodian at the Maugerville School, later retiring from the Gibson Memorial School in Marysville. In her free time, she spent many hours assembling countless zigsaw puzzles, gardening (having the best green thumb around), quilting with the Maugerville Womens Institute, and knitting until her hands would no longer make the wonderful sweaters and mittens for her grandchildren, or dishcloths we always looked forward to at Christmas.

She has had several pets over the years, however, in her later years, her budgie birds were her favorite and kept her company until she had to move into a Seniors Apartment, where she was heartbroken that they could not come with her. Buddy her favorite is still living strong with Traci and Chris in PEI.

Her times spent with family were precious to her, and she enjoyed meeting up with the Maugerville Womens Institute. She looked forward to gathering with all the special ladies, quilting, planning suppers or just having some good old chats.

In keeping with Donna's wishes, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at the Maugerville Baptist Cemetery on Saturday November 4 at 11:00 am. For those who wish to donate to a charity, the family suggests the Heart & Stroke or Diabetes Association.
