Obituary of Marie Elizabeth MacKillop

It is with great sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Marie Elizabeth MacKillop, of Fredericton, who passed away on Dec. 1, 2023, at the age of 90.

 

Born in Armdale, NS, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Brewer. She was predeceased by her husband, Ian “Russell”, and sisters Freda and Lois.

 

She is survived by her brother, Rollie; children, Della (Joe), Ian (Madelene), and Shelley (Bob); grandchildren, Cheryl, Russell, Ian, and Rachael, and great-grandchildren, Rian, Gabriel, Abby, Ryan, Emily, and Isabella.

 

Marie was affiliated with the Gibson Memorial United Church where she attended for many years. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Marie will always be remembered for her baking, which was enjoyed by everyone, and for her famous take-home bags for her grandchildren. Her strength and courage were admirable. She was a fighter, and may have even been a bit stubborn at times.

In keeping with Marie’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, Marie has asked that in lieu of flowers or donations, that her memory be celebrated by a random act of kindness.
