Obituary of Edith Colson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edith “Edie” Joan (Batt) Colson on January 3rd, 2024, in Fredericton, NB. Born in Halifax, NS, on December 22nd, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Smith) Batt, and beloved spouse of Theodore “Ted” Colson.
Edie is survived by her spouse, Ted; son, Adam Rushton (Buffy); daughter, Heather Manuel (John Gribben); step daughter, Amy Colson; grandchildren, Mike, Haley, Jeniqua, Nick and Eric; four great grandchildren; sisters, Carol Sheen (Norm) and Sandra Selig; as well as a special family member, Krista Wong, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Edie was predeceased by her brother, Jim Batt (Linda).
Nursing was the career path that Edie had chosen. She was a very capable nurse who excelled in her field. Caring for others was a passion of hers, and she extended this care to others even when she was not working. She was a very handy and creative person, who had a particular talent for glasswork and needlework. Fishing, attending Church at Wilmot United, and traveling with Ted were some of Edie’s favourite ways of spending her time.
In keeping with Edie’s wishes, a memorial service will be held at Wilmot United Church on Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at 2 pm. For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available to watch at the Wilmot United Church Youtube page, www.youtube.com/@WilmotUnitedChurch . Interment will take place at a later date in Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Society.
