Lori Matchett

Obituary of Lori Anne Matchett

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lori Anne Matchett on January 25th, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on February 19th, 1969, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Donna (Vaughan) Matchett, and beloved spouse to Mark Foster.

Lori will be greatly missed by her husband, Mark; cherished children, Jack Leslie Foster and Aidan Stewart Foster; sister, Tracey Matchett (Jim Malafronte); adored dogs, Rosie and Oakley, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Growing up in a home full of love and support helped Lori become the beautiful, intelligent, confident, upbeat and sweet person she was. It was no surprise that Lori’s upbringing inspired her to pursue a career in caring for others through nursing. After her graduation from nursing, Lori resided in a few different locations, such as Montreal and Texas, but found her way back to the Maritimes in 1998. She took a nursing position in Halifax, NS, which is where she met Mark, a newly trained pilot. The couple were meant to be, and eventually planned their wedding. Mark and Lori found themselves moving to Texas together, where their twin boys were welcomed into the world.

With their completed family, the couple moved where their careers took them. They eventually settled back in Fredericton, on the same street Lori grew up on. Lori committed herself full-time to motherhood when the boys were young. She was always there for her boys, whether it was for their extracurricular activities or just needing a person to talk to. She also had an immaculate home that was filled with love.

If Lori could, she would be thanking Mark, Aidan and Jack for giving her the best care, especially in this last year with her cancer battle. Your selflessness and devotion were an inspiring act that we should all acknowledge, and thank. On behalf of the family, we would like to offer their thanks to Drs. Boozer, Rayson, and Groom throughout the past 10 years for their compassionate care and commitment to Lori.

By request there will be no formal services. Cremation will take place. For those who wish, donations in Lori’s memory may be made to Breast Cancer Canada, or SPCA – Fredericton.

Rest in Peace our dear Lori. You will always be a ray of sunshine in our hearts.
