Obituary of Lynda Ruth Smith
The family of Lynda Ruth Smith, 77, of Fredericton, New Brunswick, sadly announces her sudden passing on February 7, 2024.
Lynda was born on October 9, 1946, to John and Helen (Palmer) Smith, in Doaktown, New Brunswick.
She attended UNB Fredericton and also graduated from the Business Education Program at NBCC Fredericton. She then began her career at UNB Faculty of Nursing. Retirement began the most enjoyable part of her life, which was spending time with her grandchildren.
Lynda is survived by two sisters, Susan McAllister (Peter) of Fredericton, NB and Heather Stevens (Mark) of Cody’s NB; her three daughters, Julie Murphy (David) of Hanwell, NB, Lesley O’Leary (David) of Saint Andrews, NB and Angela Boudreau (Daniel) of New Maryland; her beloved seven grandchildren, Josie Merrithew (Robert), Karlee Hanscomb (Jordan), Tyler Murphy (Jen), Kyle Murphy, Alyssa Murphy, Raeghan O’Leary and Anna O’Leary.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brother Donald Smith (Sandra).
The family would like to thank the nurses of 3 East at the DECH as well as Dr. Woodbury and Dr. Christie for their compassion and care during Lynda’s stay.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 10, beginning at 2pm, at the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel. She will be interred at the Fredericton Rural Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Luxor Shriner’s Transportation Fund (e-transfer to office@luxorshriners.com) , the Fredericton SPCA, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
