Oh, Kenny-bo-benny. How I will miss your friendship, our long conversations, singing harmonies, sharing meals, playing board games, rafting around the lake together, and the sweet ease that comes with years of deep camaraderie and trust. Thank you for a legacy of treasured memories, for our continued closeness with Vanessa and Susan. We already had a bond, now far deeper having journeyed together through this past difficult year. At least I can still enjoy a bunch of fun recordings that Charles made from our days at the pub. You always sang with such heart. You gave your all and we all loved it. Thank you, my friend. I've no doubt that you've found a massive welcome at this next turn of the wheel. So deserved, but I'd welcome you back in a heartbeat. Always missed and lovingly remembered. Mare

From the days when we were twelve-years-old, singing along to records and playing on cardboard instruments we'd made, through all the years of pub gigs and kitchen jams and going out to see live shows, music was the backbone of our friendship that went on to encompass so much more. Working on the high school newspaper, selling records at shows and street sales, campfires and raft rides, so many dinners and drop-in visits, walking Johnny (where you'd often be far ahead or way behind, ruminating), laughing and joking after a few glasses of "clarity," and all the stories of your life - enough stories for a dozen lifetimes. It's hard to believe it's all gone except for the memories. Thank you for bringing Susan and Vanessa into our lives. Thank you for the unending support you had for all our endeavours. You know, after all these months since you moved to Fredericton, we still can't say your name aloud without Johnny perking up and looking for your leg to hump and a wrestle. See ya again in the great beyond.

My most sincere and heartfelt sympathy. Kenny was a special man who never failed to put a smile on the face of everyone he met. He was a huge part of the old gang in Aylmer, Quebec. Gone too soon. RIP Kenny.

That eulogy is EXACTLY as I do,have and will continue to describe Kenny. Ken was our neighbour in 1978 we met when he came upstairs to complain about our noise/ music, but instead Jim invited him in for a beer and he stayed for 3 hours and in our lives for the next 41 years. In 1989 we had the pleasure of Ken Heins being best man at our wedding. Kens legacy is that he loved and shared deeply. He was passionate about everything. When Vanessa arrived he had true meaning and was so proud of his creation and loved her everyday unconditionally. In 1990 we emigrated to AUS and always hoped that Ken would come visit. We met up for New Years eve in Montreal in 2008/9 and he stayed in our hotel room with our kids in tow. They thought he was amazing with so much vigor for life. Although we never saw Kenny again we talked robust and colourfully frequently and there was never any doubt of his love of Vanessa, Sue or life. We are saddened to loose such a close lifelong loyal friend and as I write this in Sunny Queensland it is bucketing down with rain and I hope it's Kenny talking with us. The world lost a wonderful man on December 11th. We love you Ken Heins until we meet again you are forever in our hearts. Xxx Jim and Donna

I've decided this is Kenny's space and I'm gonna use it up. A great story (more than one) came to visit in my sleep..Kenny loved his cars (he had some heaps!) one of his early ones was his silver blue Austin Healey 3000. Thats a 6 cylinder British Sports car, and a convertible. He had these honkin snow tires on it to drive it through the winter. They were all working down in that Brickyard in Connecticut, I remember they lived in this old house they called Canada House, I heard they had our new Maple Leaf above the door or hanging on the porch. Ken and Chabot (I use that in the most loving deference, Kenny often called Dave, his best friend ever 'Chabot') had just driven home in a blizzard in the heart of a cold, cold winter(like 800 KM's). One thing I remember about that car, it didn't have door glass (windows) it had these things called side curtains, a frame with plexiglas sliders that you took out of the trunk and fit to the door. Anyway, on the way home in the snow storm the convertible roof gave up and the roof cover blew away. All that was left was the frame and the side curtains. Of course when they got to home their first stop was Main Street for a coffee at Don's. Ken pulls up to a group of people huddled outside for a smoke, pulls back the side curtain and sticks his head out with a grin, to say Giday!

My very sincerest condolences to Susan and Kenny's family. One of Kenny's beloved "brass" items is hanging in my garden and when I look at it I always think of the packing up job we all did together to get Kenny and Susan to New Brunswick. Kenny was always ready for a chat, to explain things to talk about the old days in the Ottawa scene and all the people we knew from the old Treble Clef days. He was so radiantly happy when he talked of the anticipated adventures he was looking forward to with Susan. The Cabot Trail! I felt as though I was speaking to a young man of 18 not a mature gentleman of years. But that I think was Kenny's nature. Young at heart. Full of love and joy. A good guy for sure. Dawn

Kenny, you have been in my life for as long as I can remember. My favorite memories are of you and Susie (Ladouceur) taking me hiking in the Gatineau Hills or steering your car while sitting on your lap (probably just a tad dangerous). As I got older it was always a great surprise and pleasure to run into you randomly on a street or at a music event. You have always been one of my favorite people. I am so very lucky to have known you. Mary

It's been a very sad year for your family with the loss of your mom - my Aunt Shirley - and now Ken. Although we never kept in close contact, I appreciated David and Ken attending our father's funeral a number of years ago. Ken and I did get together for coffee a few years ago and he "caught me up" on the "Heins" family and his passion for looking into the history of our families. I had planned on contacting him to find out how it was going but never did get to it. I'm very sorry for your losses this year (with the added burden of COVID)

During my university years, I visited Ken once while on a trip up to Ottawa during a break. Instead of finding a hostel or hotel, Ken insisted on letting me stay at his place. Over the weekend I was there, he gave me the full tour of Ottawa's historic buildings, took me garage sale hunting for vinyl, and as a highlight, brought me out to the pub with Charles and Mary-Ann to listen to them play music. They even let me play bohran on one song. It was a real treat and very much captured the essence of Ken as a person. He let me into his life, shared everything he had, and really went out of his way to make a quick trip special in many ways. He was always a joy to share a meal with, and I'll miss him deeply every time I dig into a thanksgiving turkey. Love to Vanessa and Susan in this difficult time.
