Obituary of Margaret Fulcher

It is with sadness that the family of Margaret Fulcher announce her passing at Arborstone Enhanced Care in Halifax, NS, on Monday, February 26, 2024 at the age of 98. Born in Fredericton, NB, on April 8, 1925, she was the wife of the late Alvin Charles Fulcher.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert and Minerva (Dayton) Prince; her husband Alvin Fulcher; her children, Bruce Fulcher and Elizabeth (Fulcher) Donovan; her sister, Frances Prest and her niece, Anne Prest.

She is survived by son-in-law, Michael Donovan of Halifax, and daughter-in-law Gloria Fulcher of Osoyoos, British Columbia; as well as grandchildren Ryan Fulcher, Heather Donovan and Brian Donovan; and great-grandchildren, Bridget Fulcher and Logan Fulcher.

Margaret was an example of kindness, generosity, and a cheerfulness throughout her long life. She was quietly religious and always saw the good in people and events.

During her married life she lived with her husband Alvin (Al), who was a forester, in Northern Ontario, Newcastle (Miramichi) New Brunswick and finally in Fredericton where she had grown up. After Al died in 1999 she moved to Halifax to be nearer to her daughter and grandchildren.

In Halifax she had her own apartment for several years and then moved to The Berkeley Retirement Residence. She was vigorous and healthy well into her eighties and enjoyed her friends and family and walking around her neighbourhood to see the sights.

In more recent years, as her health declined, she relocated to Arborstone Enhanced Care where she was a staff favorite up to the end.

There will be no visitation.  A funeral service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 2:00 pm with The Very Rev. Geoffrey Hall officiating. A reception at the church will follow the service. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery at a later time.  For those who wish, donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
