Obituary of Judith Anne (Peacock) Thorne
On Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at York Care Centre, Fredericton, in her 80th year. Judy was the wife of David Thorne for nearly 57 years (m. July 29, 1967) and mother of Susan (Davidson Myers), Ottawa; Andrew (Shelley), South Winsloe, PEI; and Alan, Fredericton. Nana of Liam and Erin Myers, Ottawa and Tonia (Kenzie MacPherson), PEI and great-grandmother of Reese and Duncan MacPherson, PEI. Sister of Carole Peacock, Fredericton; and Debbie (Bob Seymour), Fredericton. Also remembered by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Judy was predeceased by parents Don and Phyllis (Maxwell) Peacock, infant son Neil Thorne and parents-in-law Olivia (Lib) and Harry Thorne.
Judy was born in Saint John and moved to Fredericton as a young child. She attended Smythe Street School and Fredericton High School and graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a BA in 1966. She worked for the Department of Youth before “retiring” to become a stay-at-home mother.
She enjoyed travel, shopping and going to auctions and estate sales, always on the lookout for items to add to her royalty collection. Judy was a life-long member of St. Paul’s United Church.
There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. Family and friends will gather in the summer for final farewells.
Judy was a type 1 diabetic since she was 12 years old. Her health was greatly affected by many complications imposed by this wretched disease. If desired, memorial donations to Diabetes Canada will be appreciated by the family.
