Obituary of Patricia Ann Hawkins
It is with heavy hearts the family of Patricia Ann Hawkins announces her passing. Tricia passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, on Monday, April 15, 2024. Born in Somerset, England in 1943, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Graham and Bessie (Hellard) Phippen.
Predeceased by her husband Brian Richard Hawkins in 2015, Tricia is survived by her 3 children, Debbie Contos (Peter) of Airdrie, AB, Mark Hawkins (Andrica), and Rhonda Gaffney (Buck Stafford), all of Fredericton, NB; her 11 grandchildren, Isylla Contos, Madison Ong, Nicholas, Zachary, Aidan, MacKenzie and Amanda Contos, Klaryssa and Camden Hawkins, and Nathan and Riley Gaffney; 6 great-grandchildren, Jonah, James, Evelyn and Emilia Ong; Alexandria Contos and Octavia; sister-in-law Kathy Jones of England, and many cousins.
Tricia was a loving homemaker. She was always baking up a storm in the kitchen, right up until the day she fell ill. In her earlier years, Tricia was known for her home baking and preserves at the Boyce Farmers Market. She also had a passion for gardening. Tricia grew flowers alongside her husband Brian and created beautiful floral displays for the Fredericton Exhibition. She loved spending time with her family, and held special memories made by the ocean close to her heart.
Our family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Kenney and nurse Isis for their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion to us all. Special thanks to the staff of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, and the Extra-Mural nurses for Mom’s care. Your dedication and commitment to your profession is admirable.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 11:00 am. For those who wish, donations in Tricia’s memory can be made to the Fredericton SPCA or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
