I just heard about John's death. A tremendous wave of memories came sweeping over me. He taught me Sunday School in middle school (what a challenge I'm sure) and I believe he sparked in me my insatiable appetite to know more and to question everything (with the Bible as the basis of truth). Wow. What a man -- and how he and Mrs. Church always loved my parents (Don and Pat) and grandparents (Doug and Alda Pickard). He will be missed -- but oh, how the stories will live on! Praying for you all!

I met your father twice while I was walking in the vicinity of Ste. Anne's Court in 2019, I think, and we had long conversations. He was so interesting to chat with. You may remember me from Kingswood. John and I made the connection to you when he mentioned his grandson, Christian. I am a good friend of Bonnie Davidson's. I just wanted to send my sympathy.

MaryBeth, I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your Dad. We would see him when we visited St Anne's Court and always enjoyed our "short visits". Yes, he did love "his Rosemary" (Rosie as I always called her , she referred to me as Cuz). They were. A very loving couple. I do feel sad for you and your family. I was fortunate to get to know John when he was principal of the Gagetown School. We used the facilities there for our AWANA program and John always had an interest in not only teaching children the basics of education but also supporting programs that helped direct them into areas that would undergird their spiritual needs. I discovered him to be a dedicated Christian who loved his Lord and those around him. May those he taught follow in the path that he chose and be a light to those around them. Blessings to the family! Maranatha! John 3:16

I'm very sorry to read about John passing away. I first met John when he interviewed me for my first teaching job at Hubbard Ave School in Oromocto. In the years to come I became a friend to John and Rosemary. We had some great trips with John driving to various places in New England. Rosemary later became our school secretary and our friendship continued with many visits to their home on Leeds Drive. I still live in Skyline Acres and the house on Leeds Drive is on my walk around the neighbourhood. I think fondly of John when I walk by. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I was so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of John. We had weekly telephone chats, often for an hour. He and I attended UNB at the same time in the same Forestry/Geology building on 2 Baily Drive. John was directly responsible for School District #25's Outdoor Education which ran from the mid-1970's to the mid-1980's. Despite his mobility problems, I am shocked by his so sudden passing. Thanks for being a good colleague and friend, John!
