Obituary of Billie Joe Steever

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Billie, third child of Marie (Young) and the Late Joseph Steever. Survived by daughters Jill and Lisa (and their mother, Paulette); grandchildren, Alyssa (Papa’s nickname Boo Boo), Julia (Papa’s nickname Cheeks), Maxim, Everett and Joseph; siblings Barbara Steever-Banks (late Danny), Sheila Steever Ingersoll (late David and George Gallant), John (Mabel), as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Growing up, Billie had the nickname of Rooty toot the Professor and was always wiring, building, tearing apart or putting back together one thing or another – much to Marie’s chagrin at times. Partners in crime (besides siblings) while growing up, were buddies Gordon Bye and Tom Springer – we’ve all heard the stories! An electrician/welder by trade (IBEW Local 2166), Billie’s interests and talents were many, including but not limited to, flying remote control airplanes, fishing, hunting, motorbiking, scuba diving, metal detecting and dancing. Billie built two homes that Jill and Lisa grew up in and held many family gatherings with the specialty being the annual Steever Mussel Party (started by dear old Uncle Vic). Over the years, Billie ran a skidder, backhoe, farm tractor and chrome plating shop. Life with Billie was anything but dull. Billie was a past member of the Fredericton Motorcycle Club which resulted in many great trips and memories, especially with dear friends Ann and Chris Stewart, long-time travel buddies. A past member of the NB Liberal Association and Local Service District, Billie had a caring spirit when in good health. The family is grateful for many years of wonderful memories. Due to Covid restrictions, a private family service will be held at St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Bill Brennan officiating.
