Obituary of Peter Andrew Martin
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Andrew Martin on July 22nd, 2024, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB, surrounded by family and friends.
Peter was born on January 19th, 1962 to Edgar and Bernice (Little) Martin in Cape Breton, NS. After they moved to Rothesay, NB, Peter was always out running with friends and coming home with a bunch of them for Mom’s fresh baked bread.
Peter had a passion for people, music, and travel. He hitchhiked across Canada 8 times and is now on a new adventure. He wrote many songs, and they can be viewed on YouTube under ‘Mother Goose Peter Martin’, following the link for 18 songs. Peter loved people and music so much that he became well known as the “gate keeper” for The 506 Crew Inc. for festivals and events throughout the city of Fredericton. The simplest of pleasures in life gave Peter great joy, and he was the best cat sitter to his 4 furry nieces and nephews.
The apple of Peter’s eye was his son Paul and he would have done anything for him. They would play video games for hours on end.
Peter is lovingly remembered by his son, Paul Allen Martin, of Saint John, NB; two grandchildren, Cambria and Locke, and two stepdaughters, Becky and Shayna Arseneault, all of Saint John, NB; best friend and “brother from another mother”, Biker Bruce; sisters, Linda (Tom) Haggerty of Rothesay, NB, Brenda Martin, of Saint John, NB; nephew, Jason Haggerty, of Rothesay, NB; nieces, Jennifer and Josiane Haggerty, of Rothesay, NB; niece, Amber Martin, of Saint John, NB; many great-nieces and -nephews, and his co-workers and friends from The 506 Crew Inc., including Sue and Ken Milburn.
He was predeceased by his mother, Bernice Little; father, Edgar Martin, and brothers, Melvin Little, Ralph, Chuck, and Eddie Martin.
We would like to thank the nurses and staff of 4SE and Dr. K. Cameron for their kindness and care of Peter while in the DECRH. They made him feel as if he had finally won the lottery, being in their love and care. We want to thank Sue and Ken Milburn for their continued care for Peter for the past 6 years while he was living in Fredericton. We would also like to thank Susan Wissinger for her help while Peter was admitted to hospital. Lastly, we thank the wonderful staff of McAdams Funeral Home in Fredericton, NB, for their support and guidance with Peter’s final journey.
In keeping with Peter’s wishes, no visitation or funeral service will take place. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival Inc.
