Obituary of Michael Lawrence Munro
Michael Lawrence Munro (Mike), beloved husband, father, and cherished member of the Fredericton community, passed away peacefully at Fredericton Hospice on August 8, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Mike was born on June 15, 1959 in Saint John, NB, to Nancy (nee Ryan) and Larry (Lawrence) Munro. He is survived by his loving wife, Murielle Munro (née Gaudet), and their son, Ryan Wendel Munro (Rachel Carrier). He also leaves behind his mother, Nancy(Robertson), his sister, Marcie Platt (Kevin and Michael Platt), brothers-in-law, Roger and James Gaudet, as well as his parent's-in-law. He was predeceased by his sister, Janice Munro, and his father (Larry).
A talented videographer and editor, Mike dedicated his 20 year career to the Department of Defence at CFB Gagetown. Previous to that he was a voice on the airwaves in local radio news on CIHI and CKHJ. His creative talents extended beyond his profession; he was passionate about music and played in numerous bands throughout his life. Mike was instrumental in founding the Fredericton Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, contributing significantly to the city’s cultural life. Mike and Murielle had recently discovered a love of travel and had planned to retire overseas.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held at Dolan's Pub in Fredericton at a future date.
Mike will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
