Obituary of Hermann Schifke
The family of Hermann Schifke are sad to announce his peaceful passing on August 20, 2024 at Hospice House Fredericton. Born on May 25, 1955, he was the son of the late Karl and Gunda Schifke.
Hermann will be missed by his wife of 14 years, Elaine; step children, Melanie (Marc) and Alex; grandchildren, Gracie and Quinn; siblings, Norbert (Correen), Elisabeth (Gary), and Gerhard (Gzhen), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and especially his beloved dog, Henry.
In addition to his parents, Hermann was predeceased by his sister, Hannelore.
Originally from Germany, Hermann had a love of music from the start. He grew up in Winnipeg playing the saxophone in a number of wedding bands from the age of 14, going on to play in Winnipeg/Northern Ontario area with a cover band called Summit Road. After focusing on his career in information technology for 35 years, he was happy to return to his sax after retiring to Fredericton and joining the Downtown Blues Band, showing us that you are never too old to ‘start again’.
An avid football fan, you could find him rooting on his beloved Winnipeg Blue Bombers whether they won or lost. After his family, his pet, and his music, the Bombers were his fouth love of his life.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation for the kindness and care given to Hermann by the doctors, nurses and staff at Hospice House and at the Dr Everett Chalmer’s Hospital, Palliative and 4NE units.
A Memorial Service will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Sunday, August 25th, 2024 at 2:00 pm. For those who were unable to attend the service, a recording is available at the following link: https://vimeo.com/1001630752?share=copy
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice House would be appreciated by the family.
