My condolences to the family of Professor Smith, and to his partner Randy. I met Professor Smith during my and my wife’s residing at the Lion’s Gate Apartments complex on Regent Street. I did not know he was a teacher of Classics. He seemed to me at the outset gracious, kind, and inwardly happy. After many years, I saw him about a year ago when he was enjoying a coffee at one of his favourite downtown hangouts. I have missed the opportunity to allow him to share his knowledge and love of the Classics. He is no doubt as they say, “one of the good guys” and again no doubt he will be missed by his friends and colleagues.
You know, I wish at some point I had found out at least his favourite Classic book with my being a rookie novice at this study. If you will and have some insight on this, and with my appreciation, I am listed in the phone book if you want to share this information

I heard good things about Prof. Smith from friends whom he taught. I met him at church through one of those friends. After that friend moved away, Prof. Smith would occasionally ask me how they were doing, or ask me to pass on some information. He did indeed care about people.

Bob was my uncle. He was an extremely intelligent and giving person, always enjoying a conversation on pretty much any topic. I live near Toronto and haven't been able to keep in contact, I did have a phone call with Bob a few weeks ago. He was having trouble remembering who I was, but was still his friendly, chatty self. We talked about his grandnephews, my mom (his sister-in-law), and his late brother Leslie.
My deepest condolences to Randy, and all of Bob's friends who he used to have coffee/tea with. He will be missed.

Such a wonderful man. I am so sorry to hear of his loss, Randy you are in my prayers. I got to know Bob when he was always visiting and running errands for his sister, and he was always so kind and patient.

My sincere condolences to all of Bob's family and friends. I met Bob quite a few years ago on Fredericton Transit. We struck up a conversation one day & it soon developed a bus buddy friendship. If we went more than a week without seeing each other, I became a little concerned. We had great conversations of his career, family, and overall small talk, which was always enjoyable. Sadly I hadn't seen him since 2019, when I retired. So often thought of him & will continue. Prayers to all.

My English teacher in 1963. We always seemed to run into each other frequently. I think he was proud to think I joined the teaching profession. The man never changed, the last time I saw him, he looked just like in did way back when. Rest in peace, Mr Smith. Thank you for encouraging me to enter the profession I so enjoyed.

I met Bob in the late 60ies when he was in Saint John at UNBSJ. Our association goes back to the days when we met at the old Mission Church on Paradise Row (long gone). Many fun times over the years at dinner parties, and as a travel companion. Great conversationalist. He will be missed. May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.
