Obituary of Yvette Geralda Fabro
Thank you mom, for the love and the memories that we will cherish always.
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Yvette Geralda Fabro (née Levesque) announce her passing, after a lengthy illness, on August 31 at the York Care Centre in Fredericton, NB.
The eldest daughter of the late Edgar and Marie-Anne (née Bérube) Levesque, Yvette is predeceased by her parents, her late husband Lorenzo Fabro, older brother Claude (Fèrnande) and two younger sisters Thérèse, and Gaëtane (Carmel) Déjardins.
Born in 1941, Yvette grew up in St. Anne de Madawaska, New Brunswick, on her family’s farm, where she developed a love for animals and helping others. Yvette was close to her siblings and especially shared with her sisters a deep love of learning, each going on to become teachers. While pursuing her teacher education in Fredericton, Yvette met Lorenzo, a young, recently immigrated Italian with broken English, a kind heart and a fun loving sense of humor. Their shared love of music and dance quickly evolved into a life of love, family, travel, and compassion for others. Married in 1963 Lorenzo and Yvette started their life together with a honeymoon journey to Italy. Never to be left out of the conversation, Yvette quickly learned the language of her husband’s home land and joined the family conversations with ease from then on.
Although she started out as a teacher, Yvette and Lorenzo soon moved on to establish Fabro Construction. She was the back bone of the family business and shared her strength, determination and tenacity with her husband and two children during this time. Lorenzo and Yvette were deeply committed to community through the local Fredericton Epsilon Service Club and the Church, where they made deep and lasting friendships with those who shared in their celebration of community, and gave back through charity and volunteerism.
Since her youth and throughout her life, Yvette was met with many health challenges, which she faced with courage and resilience, and was grateful to have a strong circle of support for her family and her well being. Yvette would often show her appreciation with those who cared for her and her family through the difficult times with her many creative talents of home baked treats and beautiful hand made gifts she shared with love from the heart.
Yvette leaves behind her children Ritchie Fabro (Tina) and their family: grandchildren Brandon Fabro, Jessica Nason (Chris) and great-grandchildren Sophia, Mia, Hailey, and Tucker; daughter Kim Fullerton (Chris) and their family: grandchildren Alex and Samantha Fullerton; her brothers Roger (Nora), Gerard (Mona) and Robert (Colette), and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Robertson and the New Brunswick Extra Mural Program for their never ending support of mom over many decades as well as the dedicated staff at the York Care Centre for their kind and compassionate care of mom throughout her recent years. A special thank you to Karen Lake for her support and guidance during our family’s recent journey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 12:00 pm with Fr. Callistus Abazie as celebrant. Interment will be held in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery with family.
For those who wish, donations in Yvette's memory may be made to the York Care Foundation, Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Fredericton SPCA.
