Obituary of Dixie Lynn McFadzen

It is with great sadness that the family of Dixie Lynn McFadzen announces her passing at Hospice House in Fredericton on Sunday, September 8^th, 2024. Born on October 30^th, 1951 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Evelyn (Nightingale) McFadzen.

Dixie leaves behind her sister, Geri McFadzen (John) of Island View, New Brunswick, her nieces, nephews and beloved cousins, both young and old. She also leaves several life long friends.

Dixie, also known as “The Dixie Chick” embraced life with an open mind and heart. Friendship was her faithful companion during her time here. Her friends became part of her family and accepting and knowing a new friend came without vetting. Like the warmth of a fire on a cold night, she was always willing to add another piece of wood! Those that came to know and admire her unassuming, street-wise and loving character will always think of her as a feeling of flirtatious warmth!

In her final days, Dixie bid this world farewell with two words:

Oh-Well.

 

A private graveside service for family and invited friends will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Dixie’s memory may be made to Hospice Fredericton.
