Obituary of Deana Joan Cote

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Deana Joan Cote on January 26th, 2021, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Chatham, NB on June 1st, 1969, Deana was the daughter of Donna (Carter) Bernard and John McFarlane. Deana was an amazing, caring lady, whose kindness was always shown to others and in various ways. Family meant everything to Deana and she always looked after them. This love was emphasized in large as well as small actions, such as ensuring there was ice cream in the house and that all the candy dishes were full before having the grandchildren over for a visit. As a matriarch in her family, Deana was the glue that helped hold everyone together. She had a talent for remembering birthdays, special events and occasions, which was expressed by her staying in touch with family and friends to reminisce, celebrate or check in with. She will be greatly missed by her husband Richard Cote; daughters Jessica Cote (Shane Thomas), Emily Cote (Andrew Crawford) and Mercedes; grandchildren Brantley, Cohen, Maya and Isaiah Cote; mother Donna; father John (Laurie); brother Jamie McFarlane (Kilby); step sisters Kim Bernard and Natalie Bolohan (Thomas), as well as many extended family members. Deana is now reunited with her grandson Kaelan Cote and step father Scotty Bernard. There will be no visitation or service at this time. Interment will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Miramichi, at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
