It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Nancy “Frankie” Findlay, on October 22, 2024 at the age of 86, surrounded by her loving family.
Frankie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. John Findlay; daughters Claire (Ghislain) and Fiona (André); son Frank, grandchildren Alexandre, Nicolas (Nada), Daniel, Febe, Zachary and Zoe; sisters Shirley Rayes and Joyce Porilli, brother-in-law Michael Findlay (Victoria), and several dear nieces and nephews. Frankie is predeceased by her parents, Hélène Morai and Dr. Frank Ramey and daughter, Nicole.
Frankie was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick on July 13, 1938. Upon finishing high school, she studied arts and education at the University of New Brunswick, where she met John Findlay, the love of her life, and husband of 61 years. The two married in Rome in 1963 and started their family in Fredericton. In 1977, they bought their summer home “Meadow Lodge” in Saint Andrews, NB. Over the next 40 years, Frankie loved spending her time at Meadow Lodge, hosting family and friends from near and far for memorable dinner parties, celebrations, and cherished moments. Frankie and John travelled frequently to Rome to spend quality time with her sisters and extended family, enjoying all that Italian cuisine and culture has to offer.
A proud member of the Fredericton community, Frankie volunteered her time at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery as a docent for over 25 years. She was an avid lover of the arts, tennis, and bridge.
The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to Sherri Drake for the loving care she provided over the last year, and to Hospice Fredericton for the compassionate care given during her stay.
Memorial donations may be made to the Fredericton Food Bank, Hospice Fredericton, St-Dunstan’s parish, or to a charity of choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of McAdam’s Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Dunstan’s Church on October 29, 2024 at 1:00pm with Rev.
