Obituary of Margaret Evelyn Kerr
December 13, 1928 – November 27, 2024
Margaret Evelyn (Alexander) Kerr passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 27, 2024 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital (Fredericton) in her 95th year. She was the daughter of the late Charles Alexander and Evelyn (Eagleson) Alexander.
Margaret was the beloved wife of the late William David Kerr. Loving mother of Bill (Vivian), David (Lori), Kathleen (Tim) and Bob (Laureen). Margaret will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Catherine, Will, David, Elizabeth, Matt, Eric, David and Tim. Her great grandchildren Katie, Anna, Tim, Liam, Isla, Elijah and Charlotte were close to her heart, despite the distance between them. She was the mother-in-law to Nell Kerr and the late Eileen Kerr, and the dear sister of the late Irvine Alexander (Pat) and the late Bob Alexander (Elna).
Margaret worked in nursing at the former Wellesley Hospital in Toronto, then started a family with David whom she attested treated her like a ‘girlfriend’; they were happily married for over 50 years.
Margaret will be sadly missed by all family and friends. She had a deep and abiding faith which guided her the whole of her life. Her inquisitive nature, interest in others and keen sense of humour (inherited from her father Charles) made her so very loved by those she met. She inherited her love of baking from her mother Evelyn, for which she was renowned in her wide circle of friends and family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ste Anne’s Court and in particular the staff of Windsor Court Retirement Residence for their love and care over the last few years.
A funeral service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 2pm with a reception to follow in the Cathedral. For those unable to attend the service, a livestream may be viewed at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/@christchurchcathedralfton.
