Brenda Joyce Butt: September 23, 1951 - December 7, 2024
Patrick Floyd Butt: April 18, 1950 - December 7, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear parents, Patrick Floyd and Brenda Joyce (Elms) Butt at the ages of 74 and 73, surrounded with family, friends, and love at their Fredericton home on December 7th, 2024. Born in Port Aux Basques and St John’s, Pat and Brenda were the children of the late Garland and Evelyn (Chaisson) Butt and Jack and Alma (Williams) Elms.
Pat was predeceased by his three brothers, Wilson and Dave Butt, and Nathan Coffin.
Pat and Brenda leave to mourn, with many fond and loving memories, their beautiful friends and family members. They will forever remain in the hearts of Pat’s sister, Lorna Carmichael (Merrill), North Sydney, N.S., and brother, Peter Atwood (Marg), Australia; Brenda’s brother, David Elms (Barbara), Port Aux Basques, N.L.; sisters, Donna Elms (Paul) and Judy Elms (Gerald), Corner Brook, N.L.; children, Lori Dicks (Gord), Hanwell, N.B., Patti-Lynn Butler (Scott), Middle Sackville, N.S., D. Glen Butt (Pascale) and Christopher Butt, also of Fredericton, N.B.; as well as seven beautiful and blessed grandchildren, Megan Dicks (Danny), Moncton, N.B., Gillian and Brooklyn Dicks, Hanwell, N.B., and Sarah, Samantha, Liam, and Logan Butler, Middle Sackville, N.S., plus a large circle of family, friends, and love ones.
A very special thank you to their caretakers and all the doctors, nurses, extra mural, and staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital (DECH) in Fredericton for their loving care, concern, and compassion always given to them both.
Pat worked for 32 years as an electrician with Marine Atlantic while Brenda managed various small businesses (Pizza Delight, Petro Can, etc) and retired as a phlebotomist at the DECH in Fredericton.
They both lived their lives together to the fullest and loved their nightly game of cards (Cribbage). Pat and Brenda were avid travelers who equally loved spending time at their cabin – with extended family – in Crabbes River, N.L. They will forever remain in our hearts as a beautiful, kind, and worldly loving Christian couple who loved their friends, family, and God, with whom they now reside. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for all you have done for us children, family, and loved ones.
Dad’s famous words when anyone visited were, “Care for a game of Crib”, while mother’s frequent words were, “would you like a tea.”
Our hearts are with you, Mom and Dad, you both will be deeply missed forever.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Smythe Street Church, Fredericton, N.B., officiated by Pastor Verner Drost and Pastor Chad Billington.
