Obituary of Dan W Frye
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Dan Frye -husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend. Dan was pre deceased by his parents Peter and Beverly Frye. He is survived by his parents in law Briant and Carolyn Folkins of Penobsquis, NB and brothers-in-law, Doug (Brenda) of Campbell River, BC and John (Nancy) of Drurys Cove, NB as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces and extended family he loved and enjoyed.
He is survived by his wife and the absolute love of his life Elaine. Dan would do anything for Elaine whether it was that chocolate treat on his way home or rubbing her feet after a long days work. Their love was the base that held them up. His children will miss him dearly- Carrie (Matt) was the apple of his eye being his only daughter and held a very special place in daddy’s heart. She also gave him his adored grandchildren - the beautiful and spunky Becca and Marshall - already growing quickly to be a big boy.
Daniel is his smart tech guy who could fix anything on his phone, computer or remote control and his go-to guy for car parts. They shared a special bond working together on projects and fixing things. Zack is his middle boy who gave him a run for his money in earlier years but as maturity set in became his best friend and confidante joining him on projects and serving as his sounding board on life.
Chad being the youngest was spoiled to the core and Dan loved him and would bend over backwards to be there for him. Whether it was running to the store for a Soda or a late night pick up - he was there. Then we have his siblings - Big sister Cheryl (Steve) or Aunt Charlie as she is known to the nieces and nephews - there for every special occasion and even taking All the kids whale watching every year and building memories. Big brother Peter (Trinh) who was always there for him, liked taking him for motorcycle rides and talking fast cars. Regardless of distance Dan knew his big brother was never really far away. Big sister Christy, whom Dan had a soft spot for. They had the same funny sense of humor towards each other and were constantly laughing. Also, survived by a very special lady who blessed us all - his stepmother Mercedes Frye as well as his stepbrother Javier (Elaine).
Dan left this life much as he entered it - way too soon. Born premature and fragile with all kinds of worries - which no one would guess when he grew up. Rugby and cadets at RCS - well over 6 feet - he could be larger than life and his big heart and deep laugh added to it. From working with his family’s business -then branching out with entrepreneurial projects in supply and installation of commercial shelving, and then driving….well, anything with wheels. He was jack of all trades and master of …some. Dan was the most kind, caring and devoted person we knew. He loved his family and extended family deeply. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and never had to question that dad was always there to help if they really wanted something at any point in their lives. He was quick with funny remarks and would give you the shirt off his back if you were in need. He did not know the meaning of the word ‘no’ - he always tried to find a way to help everyone. His family would like to offer special thanks to the paramedics, fire department and officers Simon Hachey and Jon Cook for their kindness and support at a very difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held for Dan’s family and friends at McAdams Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB from 4-6 pm, Saturday, December 21, 2024. Donations can be made to the Heart and Lung Association or charity of donor’s choice.
