Fay leaves behind her children, Michael Steeves, Fredericton, NB, Carol Wry (Michael), Cambridge, ON, Barbara Ramsey (Robin), Portland, OR, and Blair Steeves (Mabel Janes), Edmonton, AB; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon Howland of North Vancouver, BC; sister, Joan DeLong of Moncton, NB, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband of 70 years, Blair, Fay was predeceased by her parents, Gordon Howland and Jean (Yeaman) Walsh; brother, Danny Howland of Kamloops, BC; brother-in-law, Frank DeLong of Moncton, NB; brother-in-law Donald Steeves, Dauphin, MB, and sister-in-law, Marilyn (Steeves) Bourque, Moncton, NB.
Fay was a graduate of Moncton High School and New Brunswick Teachers College.
Prior to moving to Fredericton in 1973 Fay and family lived in Saint John and Moncton. From 1977 - 1979 Dad’s work with UNB took them to Nairobi, Kenya to live. An experience she looked back on fondly. Upon retirement Mom and Dad spent several winters in Florida.
Meals at the family home were events worth attending, especially when everyone, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren were able to attend.
Mom had many hobbies over the years; sewing, painting, square- and round dancing, and cookbook collecting.
The family wishes to thank Dr. L. Blyth and the nursing staff at DECH, 4E, for the compassionate care Mom received during her lengthy stay.
In keeping with Fay’s wishes, there will be no formal services. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
