Obituary of Judith A. Kelly Colson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judith "Judy" A. Kelly Colson on March 7, 2021, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on September 1st, 1936 in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Myrtle (Fairfield) Kelly.
Judy worked as a librarian at the Harriet Irving Library at UNB from 1967 until she retired. It comes as no surprise that she loved to read. She served on the Fredericton Public Library Board and Friends of the Library. She also had a passion for cooking, which showed through her many cook books and magazines. Judy sewed and made her own and her daughter’s clothes. In retirement she became a quilter, especially with the Cathedral Quilters and was librarian for the Cotton Mill Quilt Guild. Judy was a patron of the arts, especially attending classical music concerts. She was a member of OnStage and she served as secretary for the Fredericton NB Symphony Committee. She never missed a mainstage concert of the NB Summer Music Festival, no matter how hot it was.
She is survived by her daughter Amy Colson of Mississauga, ON; father of her daughter, Theodore Colson; step sister Suzanne Norman; step brother Jimmy Slater; her beloved beagle Stoney, as well as many extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her beloved four-legged companions Molly, Belle, Bounce and Skippy.
