Obituary of Saad El-Din Naguib
The family of Dr. Saad El-Din Naguib wish to announce his peaceful passing, surrounded by loved ones, on April 25, 2021 in Fredericton.
Son of Dr. Abdel Maksoud Naguib and Mrs. Zeinab Ragy, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family including siblings Aisha, Melek, Kamal and Ragaa. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diana Naguib (Eeg), his children Tarek, Nadine, Norine and Randa, as well as his nieces and nephews and their next generations who were all very special to him.
Born in Egypt on November 13, 1930, Saad Naguib obtained his medical degree from Einshams University in Cairo in 1960. Immigrating to Canada in 1964, Dr. Naguib completed his internship and residency in General Surgery and Pathology in Chicoutimi and Montreal, Quebec. He was certified by the American Board of Pathology in 1972 and was granted Fellowship in the American College of Pathologists in 1973.
During his 27-year professional career, Dr. Naguib worked as a pathologist in Edmunston, Fredericton, Woodstock and Campbellton. He also worked for a period in Saudi Arabia.
Family was important to him. His happy place was "at home with family", whether in Canada or in Egypt. Since leaving Egypt, he seized every opportunity to remain connected with family there. He made frequent trips home to enjoy relaxed reunions and, in between visits, enjoyed adopting the latest technologies using messaging, voice and video options to stay in touch.
He also sustained many lifelong friendships despite distance. In retirement, he especially enjoyed weekly gatherings with his friends in Fredericton. These meetings were very special to him and we wish to acknowledge his dear friends.
We will not be the same without him, but we are grateful for his time with us and for his good health and characteristic easy nature to the end. Thank you, Pop, for teaching us among other things, integrity. We will miss you more than you know.
We extend our immense gratitude to the Extra-Mural Program and all other healthcare professionals for the excellent care they provided to him and our family.
Honouring his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
