Cathy and family, so very sorry to hear of Darrel's death. He was a great and kind man, a wealth of knowledge to the Province of New Brunswick, and so proud of his family and grandchildren. I had the privilege of working with Darrell when I worked at the New Brunswick Museum, the Canadian Antiques Roadshow, and New Brunswick Film Corporation, and considered him a friend who shared my love of whisky. As another friend of Darrell's said he was "Mr. Kings Landing." My sincere condolences since I am unable to attend the visitation.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Darrel and wish to extend my sincere sympathies to Cathy and family on your tremendous loss. It was a privilege to have known and worked with Darrel. I have always appreciated and admired Darrel's boundless energy and passion for material history, Kings Landing and our province. His vast knowledge and desire to teach combined with a natural curiosity meant he was always in pursuit of new information and discoveries and equally eager to share. His passions professionally paled in comparison to the light in his eyes when he spoke of his loved ones. I was always touched by his love, commitment and pride when he spoke of his family. My thoughts are with you all.
