Obituary of Doris Mary Saad
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Mary (McGraw) Saad on July 29, 2021, at Thomas Hall, Shannex. Born on September 7, 1929, in MacDougall Settlement, NB, she was the daughter of the late Placide Joseph and Philomene Marie (LeBlanc) McGrath.
Doris was loved by all who knew her for her generous spirit, strength of character, and feisty wit. She met and fell in love with her husband, Paul, when she was teaching at hairdressing school and he became a student. Widowed far too early, Doris successfully raised their children single-handedly. Always well-dressed, her fashion sense and love of clothes led her into a career as a manager and fashion consultant at Career Fashions and at George’s Footwear in Fredericton.
Doris was very proud of her family and loved nothing better than to be with them. She will be greatly missed by her children Anne Parker (Lorne) of Edmonton, AB, Paulette McGrath of Hanwell, NB, Michael McGrath (Liz) of Fredericton, NB, and David Saad (Susan Mesheau) of Hanwell, NB; grandchildren Shaun Parker (Jocelyn), Bradley Parker (Sandy), Landon McGrath, and Reade McGrath; siblings Noel McGraw, Henry McGraw (Geraldine), Alfred McGraw (Phyllis), and Maria Jacques; sister-in-law Lorraine McGraw; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband Paul Joseph Saad; infant daughter Cathy; brother Gerald McGraw; sister-in-law Diane McGraw, and special friend Weldon Chase, who became Grampy to her grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and the many others at Shannex who loved and cared for Doris during her time there.
A private memorial service will be held at J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel with Fr. Monte Peters as officiant. For those who wish, memorial donations in Doris’ memory may be made to the SPCA, the Alzheimer’s Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
