Obituary of Muriel Jean DuPlessis
The family of Muriel Jean (Keetch) DuPlessis, wife of the late Paul R. DuPlessis, is saddened to announce her passing on August 20, 2021. Mom was born on June 24, 1928 in South Hampton, NB, to parents Fred and Edna (Stairs) Keetch.
She worked for the NB Telephone Company in Fredericton for ten years until dad’s job as an electrician took them to Chatham, NB, for two years and then to Newcastle Creek, NB, where he worked for the NB Electric Power Commission until his retirement in 1985.
While in Newcastle Creek, mom and dad were long standing members of the Newcastle Creek United Baptist Church. Mom taught Sunday School and faithfully attended the Women’s Missionary Society meetings.
Mom was an immaculate homemaker and her cooking was the best. Even the neighbours and close friends would agree. Mom took pride in her home and family. She loved planting flowers and some of her favourites were tulips, geraniums and peonies.
Mom is survived by her (adopted/chosen) daughter Heather Gallant (Joey) of Sunnyside Beach, NB; grandson Alex Von Alstyne of Fredericton, NB; and sisters Ruth Graham and Joyce Brawn of Fredericton, NB as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her beloved husband Paul, whom she lost in 1997, she was predeceased by her parents; her brother Wendall and his wife Violet; and brothers-in-law Don Graham and Claire Brawn.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the W.G. Bishop Nursing Home in Minto for their love and care of Muriel.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 at Grace Memorial United Baptist Church from 1:30pm – 2:30pm. A service will follow at 2:30pm. A burial will take place following the service at Mactaquac Baptist Church Cemetery.
At the request of the family, we kindly encourage the use of face masks and social distancing protocols.
For those who wish, donations in Muriel’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
