Obituary of Lorenzo Fabro

It is with profound sadness that the family of Lorenzo Fabro announce his sudden passing on November 21, 2021. Born in Majano, Udine Italia, Lorenzo is the son of the late Domenico and Onorina (Molinaro) Fabro. He began his carpenter apprenticeship at an early age at Snaidero in Majano. In 1958, at the tender age of 22 years, Lorenzo crossed the Atlantic to join his eldest sister Berta and her husband Giovanni Persello in Fredericton, New Brunswick where he soon became best friends with his niece Vally. Working for Acadia Marble, Lorenzo settled into Canadian life, learning the language, making new friends, and meeting his wife Yvette. Together they set out to establish Fabro Construction as a company with a reputation for quality craftsmanship of luxury homes in the greater Fredericton area. More than a Carpenter, Lorenzo was an artisan who saw beauty in wood and shared a piece of his heart in the many homes and furnishings he created. If you were fortunate to have Lorenzo work for you, you could be rest assured to have quality and care in everything he made. Dad would tell everyone how the Epsilon Y’s Service Club helped shape him to be the man, husband, and father he became. His love for community and giving for others was shared through his fellowship with Epsilon, as well as the Knights of Columbus and his devotion to the Saint Francis of Assisi Church and community. Together with his ever growing circle of friends, he would share a joke and bring a smile to everyone they met. He was instrumental in working to establish the Lincoln Community Breakfast and the Monte Peters Soccer Field. There is a reason Lorenzo has received many awards and accolades, including the YMCA Peace Medallion awarded in 2001. He gave of his time and put his heart in all that he did. If anyone needed a favour, a hammer, or a glass of wine, Lorenzo would give freely. Many fond memories were made with Epsilon and he happily encouraged his family to join in volunteering with the canteen, home show and collecting stamps at home for the brotherhood fund. He would rally our school friends to soak, sort, count and bundle stamps, to be thanked with some cookies from mom, and a bundle of intertwined sneakers and tangled shoestrings as his eyes twinkled mischievously. Lorenzo was very proud of his children always encouraging us to work hard and get an education. He was a dedicated father and husband and we never wanted for anything, often accompanying mom and dad on their many adventures and learning about community and service to others through their guidance. As much as he loved us, Dad's eyes sparkled (or shed a tear) when he spoke of his grandchildren, as each of them meant the world to him. Equally likely to play a prank or help with a school project, Grampy would gladly jump into the kiddy pool to cool off or take the children to a local fishing spot to share his love of nature. He was excited to meet the next generation of great-grandchildren. Lorenzo loved to laugh and sing and make people smile. His extension of friendship reaches far and wide and he will be missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the songs and stories we will share for years to come. In addition to his loving parents, Lorenzo was predeceased by a devoted step-mother Velia; brothers Arigo and Germano, and sisters Berta and Renata. Lorenzo leaves behind his loving wife Yvette (Levesque); son Ritchie (Tina) and their family: grandchildren Brandon and Jessica (Chris Nason) and great-grandchildren Sophia, Mia, Hailey, Tucker; daughter Kim Fullerton (Chris) and their family: grandchildren Alex and Samantha. Lorenzo will also be missed terribly by his niece Vally Zammer (Joe) and their son Marc. Family in Italy include his brother Roberto Fabro (Alma) as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at McAdam’s Funeral Home from 4 – 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 12 pm noon. Due to current provincial regulations, proof of vaccination and government issued identification will be required for entry to the visitation and service.
