Obituary of Hope Carolyn Piers

It has been said that the errands of angels are given to women, a gift that Hope Carolyn Piers so beautifully displayed throughout her life. Upon her passing, Hope left a legacy of spiritual strength to everyone she ever met. The family sadly announce her passing at Hospice House on Thursday, April 23, 2020 following a period of failing health. Born June 1, 1944 in Plaster Rock, NB, Hope was the daughter of the late Karl and Irene (Muckler) Elliott. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband George W. Piers (2018), her son Peter Piers (2018) and brothers Paul and Richard Elliott. Hope was a graduate of Tobique Valley High School and would later attend St. Thomas University in Fredericton where she would receive a BA Degree and a BSW Degree. She retired as a much loved and respected Clinical Social Worker. Many will remember when she operated Hope’s Bakery and her amazing rolls and homemade bread. Hope's life was a deep spiritual journey and served faithfully in the quiet callings in her life. She loved to sing and worship and was a Worship Leader for a number of years. She has left many fond memories while attending Smythe Street Church and later Cornerstone Worship Center. Always humble at heart, she would say that she didn't have many talents to offer the world, however, the spiritual impact she left on the lives she met and loved is immeasurable. Well done good and faithful servant. A mother's example, especially a spiritual influence, helps define the life of her family. Forever grateful for her love and spiritual influence is her son Mark (Angela) Piers and daughters, Heidi Bieber and Deidre Piers (Jamie Durnford) and her daughter-in-law Kelly Worrall Piers. She found great delight in her 11 grandchildren, Jonathan (Marquelle) Piers, Michael Piers, Maria Piers, Jianna Piers, Zachary Piers (Sara MacLean), Shain Piers, Jared (Emily) Bieber, Chloe Bieber, Mitchell Durnford, Josh and Lauren Pelkey; also her great-grandchildren, Taylor Piers, Jameson and Lexus Harnish, Harlen Torah Piers, Noah and Caleb Bieber. Hope is also survived by brothers, William (Jen), Jerry, Chester and Arthur (Kay) Elliott as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Due to health restrictions associated with COVID-19, a service celebrating the life of Hope Piers will be held at a later date. Interment will be private. For those who wish to honor the memory of Hope Piers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Hospice House, Fredericton. A special thank you to Hospice and the staff for making a very uncomfortable and emotional time, bearable. Also a very special thankyou to Judy Nason and Linda Kneebone for their countless hours of sitting with our mom over these last few months. What you have done for our family can never be over stated. "A beautiful soul is never forgotten."
