Obituary of Jean-Christophe Haas
A huge piece of our hearts is now missing, as we announce the passing of Jean-Christophe (JC) Haas on December 18th, 2021, in the comfort of his home; in the arms of his wife and three children. JC was born in Auxerre, France on January 10th, 1968. He spent his youth in Dollard-Des Ormeaux, Quebec, playing baseball, diving, track & field, and could be found at the arcade hanging with friends. JC joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1990 where he proudly served for 16 years. Sadly, he was medically released due to Machado-Joseph Disease. He continued to reside and stay active within the military community.
Most important to JC was family. The loves of his life, were his wife Cherie, his daughter Syenna, and sons Gabryel and Xavyer.
JC was the proud son of Rene Haas and Janick Bordes. He was adored by his sister Christelle Haas (Daniel Belleau). Step-son to Ursula Als, and step-brother to Joanna Ashworth (Glen). He was a son-in-law to Neil and Elaine Clifford. A brother-in-law to Julie Allen (Kevin), Haley Richard (Stephen), Sheri Whitlock (Neil). An uncle to Julien & Gregory Haas-Belleau, Jonathan & Emily Ashworth, Huxley & Malachy Richard and Sierra Whitlock.
JC was predeceased by his mother, sister and father-in-law.
He will also be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins, some as far away as France.
JC lived with his illness (MJD) for the past 20 years. He truly LIVED life to its fullest. No matter what hardships he was faced with, he persevered. He spent a lot of his time volunteering within his community. Whether it was at his children's school, the Geary Lion’s Club, or spending countless hours in a freezing hockey rink watching his sons' games and practices, he enjoyed each and every experience. JC was well known for his daily walks around Geary, initially with a cane, eventually transitioning into using his mobility-scooter. He loved being outside and interacting with people in the community. Due to the progression of his disease during the last 4 years, he was unable to venture out alone but continued to do everything that he loved just in different ways. He never gave up and never complained. JC truly LIVED life and will continue to live on through us all as the inspiration that he was.
