Obituary of Edith MacDonald
It is with sadness, tinged with relief, that we announce the passing of Edith "Edie" MacDonald at the age of 101. She was a resident at York Care Centre in Fredericton, NB, where she was wonderfully cared for by the nursing staff on Tower Two.
Edie was born in North Sydney, NS, the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Landry.
She was a stay at home mother for many years but in later years worked at the Metropolitan Stores as a cashier. Edie was unfailingly kind and generous to all she met and you never came away from a visit with her without feeling better for the visit.
Edie was predeceased by her husband, Daniel MacDonald; two brothers, George and Arcent Landry; two sisters, Alvena Burchell and Marjorie Cox; and her beloved son, Rod.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne (Dr. John Crumley) of Fredericton, NB; three granddaughters, Dr. Tracey Crumley (Jim Rivard), Kiera MacDonald and Erin MacDonald-Smit; she is also survived by three grandsons, Justin Crumley (Jenny Rombs), Dan MacDonald (Carmen Delisle) and Darryl MacDonald (Joanna Williams); four great grandsons, Carter, Kyle, Reid and Porter Crumley; and four great granddaughters, Sophie and Ella Rivard and Lexis and Kennedy MacDonald; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place with interment to follow at a later date in North Sydney, NS. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
