Obituary of Beverly Jean George
It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our mother, Beverly Jean George, on January 26, 2022 at York Care Centre in Fredericton. She was born on April 2, 1937. After a life devoted to her family, Beverly succumbed to her battle with dementia and bowel cancer.
Beverly spent her childhood in Saint George but moved to Fredericton to attend teachers college in 1955. It was then that she met her husband to be Joey George, and after spending a year teaching in Saint John, they married. Bev and Joey raised their children in Nashwaaksis, on the north side of the river. Beverly had five children by the time she was 28 years old. In spite of being extremely involved in the lives of her children, at the age of 31, she began teaching kindergarten to 18 pre-school children who lived in the neighbourhood. Although she provided this service for years, her family remained at the very core of her being. Throughout her life she cared for, mentored, supported and loved her children and grandchildren, and selflessly gave of herself. Her commitment to the family epitomized a Mother’s love as it was truly her life.
Beverly is survived by her children, Andy George (Donna), Andrea Thomas (Eddie), Patty McNamara (Robert), Mary-Jo Roy (Brent) and Cathy Kileel (David); fourteen grandchildren, Nathan, Greg, Caroline, Josh (Julie), Amanda (Bill), Billy (Jensen), Jacob (Sarah), Ben (Sarah), Kelsey (Adam), Matt, Gabe, Laura (Josh), Joseph, Chris; thirteen great grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, Wyatt, Theresa, Alivia, Georgia, William, Danielle, Charles, Eva, Duncan, Finn and Emmett; sisters, Patricia Ruth Justason (Blair), Lilla Henry (Gary) and Mary Ellen Lee(Bob).
Beverly is predeceased by her husband Joseph Nathan George "Joey", who died on Nov 1, 2013; beloved parents, Lois (Eldridge) and Albert Henry; sister Joanne (Seavey); brother, Gary Henry.
The family recognizes and appreciates the compassion and tireless efforts of the entire York Care Centre team.
