Obituary of Christopher Michael Bielecki
I am Christopher Bielecki, I am I am.
I look for dragons all over the place
And found one yesterday in outer space.
This except is from a poem, written for Chris by his Godmother when he was six. On March 7, his search ended, and he found peace at last.
Chris was a sweet, gentle soul. Always generous and kind, he would give to others even when he had little to give. He had a dry sense of humour. He was witty and sharp, like his grand-dad, and sometimes too smart for his own good.
Chris was an artist and craftsperson, and his creativity was fostered by his mother. He could take anything he had and make something interesting and practical with it. He often articulated his feelings through painting, drawing, writing, and carving.
Like his dad, Chris had a green thumb, and they worked together many years in the family garden. He loved to fish, play guitar, read books, and cook. He was not one for crowds, but one-on-one he could talk for hours.
Chris struggled over many years with addiction and mental health issues. Despite challenges, he made many friends along his life’s journey; he supported them, and they supported him.
Chris was a protective and loving big brother to Emily (Jordan) and Stefan (Paige), cousin to Alec, Jessica, Nicholas, Abby, and Ashley and uncle to John, James, Sophie, Ellie, and Lorelei. He is also remembered and loved by his parents Sheila (Gordon) and Anthony (Belinda), his aunts and uncles, Nanny Berta, and his other grandparents.
A service and reception will be held on Monday, March 14, at 2 pm at McAdam’s Funeral Home. Donations in Chris’s memory to Fredericton Homeless Shelters are appreciated at www.theshelters.ca.
