Obituary of Daniel Barry Gillis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Barry Gillis at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the age of 38. Born in Fredericton, he was the son of Rosemary J. (Phillips) Blair and the late Raymond B. (Butch) Gillis. Daniel was an amazing young man of faith and had a very special relationship with his Savior. He also had a special relationship with his male friends and he lovingly referred to them as his adopted brothers. They had an unbreakable bond. Daniel had such a creative spirit and was a gifted artist both on paper and when it came to designing tattoos. He was a master at both. He leaves a legacy of reconciliation with humanity and was known as a leader amongst his friends. Music held a special place in his life. Daniel is survived by his beloved mother, Rev. Rosemary Blair and his step-father, Rev. Miles Blair; step-sister Leah Marie Blair; grandparents, Fred and Norma Phillips; special friend and partner in crime, Kelsey Meade; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with a host of treasured friends. A special thank you to Daniel’s many homecare workers, especially Vanessa Brideau. She was more than a personal support worker, they shared a real friendship which made his life brighter each day. A visitation will be held at McAdams Funeral Home on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 12:00 – 12:45 pm, followed by a memorial service in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel at 1:00 pm with Pastor Darrell McLellan officiating. For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available at the following link: https://vimeo.com/690011450. In the event of technical difficulties, a recording of the service will be available at the same link the following day. Interment will take place at the Rusagonis Baptist Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Atlantic Missions for Dale and Gwen French would be appreciated by the family.
