Obituary of Charles Douglas Comeau
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Charles Douglas Comeau on March 16th, 2022, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital (Fredericton, NB) after a long battle with dementia. Born on October 2nd, 1939, he was the son of the late Charles and Leona (Hussey) Comeau.
Doug was a native and longtime resident of Bathurst. He enjoyed his work in the pulp and paper industry at Consolidated-Bathurst, and later at Porritts & Spencer Ltd. (Scapa Group). Doug was a quiet, well-liked man who will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and warm chuckle. Boating, fishing, long walks on Youghall Beach, and spending summers with his beloved grandchildren were among his favorite pastimes.
Doug is survived by his former wife, Carole Daley, their children, James (Liz) and Karen (Jean-Bernard), and his four grandchildren, Marie-Veronique, Jean-Samuel, Noah, and Pascal. Doug also leaves behind his brother, Bill, and sister, Anne. Doug will be sorely missed by many cousins, nieces, and nephews who affectionately referred to him as "Uncle Dougie". He will also be missed by extended family, including Lisa (Steve), Amanda (Brandon), and their children.
In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his sisters Iona, Vera, Lois, Gladys, and Norma.
A private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
