Obituary of Sonny Fletcher (Ashby Chester)
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sonny (Ashby Chester) Fletcher, sorrowfully announces his passing. Peacefully at the home of his daughter, Tanya, on Friday, April 8, 2022, Sonny slipped away to be with his true love, Donna May (Hayward). Born on August 12, 1941 in Rural NB, son of the late Hugh and Stella (Noble) Fletcher.
Beaver Dam was where Sonny developed his passion for the outdoors, his hard work ethic and began to foster a love for softball. Sonny can be remembered for his legendary softball career in the NB Sports of Hall of Fame.
Prior to her passing in January of 2022, Sonny and his wife, Donna shared 62 years of cherished married life together. Sonny's proudest achievement was his family, daughters, Tanya Munn (Roger), Karen Fletcher (Phil) , Wendy Murray (Mike). Grandchildren Shawn, Jeffery, Julie, Emily, Austin, Simon, Harley, Ryan and Jay; great grandchildren Christopher, Luke, Beckham, Kayden, Beau, Jaxson, Ellie and Renley; sisters Rose Shaw (Jim), Bertha Harman, and Annette Hooper; sister-in-law Elizabeth, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will remember Sonny with a smile and a nod to think that he is once again atop his mower, proudly tending his lawn with a wink and grin to all that pass by.
In addition to his parents and wife, Sonny was predeceased by his brothers Travis, Bill, and sister-in-law, Marce.
Visitation will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 1224 Route 101, Nasonworth, on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 2–4 pm & 6-8 pm. A funeral service will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 11 am, with The Rev. Canon Albert Snelgrove officiating.
