Obituary of Randolph Guitar

Randolph "Randy" Michael Guitar, age 66, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022. He is survived and lovingly remembered by son Alex and daughter Monica, sisters Penny Dobbelsteyn (Patrick), Judy Sorensen (Milford), and Candy Spencer (Roger); nephews Jamie and Shane Guitar, Jan-Christian Sorensen and niece Kacey Dobbelsteyn; special aunt Sharon Jones; numerous cousins; and lifelong friends Terry and Dianne Stone. Randy was predeceased by his mother Gertrude and his beloved older brother Jerry. Truly brothers in arms, Randy had a close bond with Jerry and their love of The Great Outdoors and the pair spent plenty of hours with rod and reel whipping the waters on the Miramichi and other local rivers and lakes exploring the backcountry on hunting expeditions. A soft-spoken, gentle and eminently good-natured person who loved a joke, Randy was always there to lend a hand to friends and family whenever needed. While he loved the solitude that nature afforded him, he also enjoyed time well spent in the company of friends and family, especially at raucous Boxing Day get-togethers in Saint John and summer barbeques in Keswick Ridge with his siblings and their relatives. A devoted father, he took great pride in raising his two children and was always there to cheer Alex on at his minor-league hockey games or chauffer Monica and her friends around town. A true native son of the Fredericton soil, he was raised in Barkers Point and lived in various areas around the capital city his entire life and worked for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans at the Mactaquac Dam for years, where many of his co-workers and colleagues became friends. As per Randy’s wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of donations and flowers, Randy’s relatives ask that you honour his memory by reaching out to tell someone you love them, performing good works within your community by lending a hand to a friend, neighbour, or local charity, or simply putting some kindness into the world whenever possible, as Randy would have done.
