Obituary of Elaine Marie Babineau

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elaine Marie Babineau on May 2nd, 2022, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on February 26th, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Evelyn (Abbott) Babineau, and the beloved wife of Daniel Achorn. Elaine was from Saint John, but growing up loved the adventures she would have in Cambridge Narrows. Even after she met and married her beloved husband Dan, they were constantly traveling to their place in Cambridge Narrows to enjoy the outdoors and kayak. They have been doing this together for 30 years. Elaine was very active, and enjoyed her "fast walks". She was also very passionate about her work with the Government in the child care department, and as a consultant for adoptions. 41 years she spent as a hard and passionate worker with these departments. Ultimately though, she was very proud of her son, Jake, who is also a hard worker and has settled in his career as a winemaker. Many wines have been made for Elaine, but she did also like a good glass of single malt. She will be greatly missed by her husband Dan of New Maryland, NB, son Jake Achorn (Marissa) of Kelowna, BC, as well as many extended family members. In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her brother Donald Babineau. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5th, 2022 at McAdam’s Funeral Home from 4 pm – 6 pm. A private family burial will take place at Catholic Cemeteries, Saint John, NB, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Children’s Wish Foundation.
