Obituary of Dorothy Joan Dauphinee RN
Dorothy passed away May 21st, 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital after a six year battle with ovarian cancer.
Dorothy was born January 4th, 1945 in Pictou, NS. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Grace Johnson (Fleming). Her early and formative years were spent growing up in Lower Onslow, NS. During these years she was active in the United Church, CGIT, majorettes and tap dancing.
In 1963 she entered the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing in Halifax, NS. She developed many friendships during that time that still exist today. It was during this time she met her future husband of 55 years, Wayne. They were married in 1967, and made Fredericton their home.
Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom until her daughters were in school. She then returned to nursing at the Victoria Public Hospital. Later moving to the DECH Veterans Health Unit until she retired in 2005. After her retirement she continued with a healthy, active lifestyle, attending the gym at Kingswood right up until early Spring of this year.
Dorothy is predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Grace Johnson and her younger brother, Robert. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Wayne; two daughters Susan Chakravorty (Darren Smith) and her children, Jacob and Madison all of Fredericton, and Sarah Dauphinee and her children, Finn and Avery of Sydney, Australia, as well, her older brother, Reginald Johnson (Janet) of Jordan Station, Ont.
In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A private family committal will take place later this summer in Lower Onslow, Nova Scotia.
